Former Executive Editor of Xinhua News Agency, Media Consultant with Global Environmental Institute (a non-governmental research institute on environment and sustainable development), Guest Professor with Beijing Foreign Studies University. Xiong Lei has long been involved in writing/editing in-depth reports on China, with writings on subjects ranging from politics, science, culture, health and education to business published in dozens of newspapers and magazines in the United States, Great Britain, France, India, Singapore, the Philippines, Korea, Thailand and Hong Kong. Co-editor or editor of several English books, including Portraits of Ordinary Chinese, More or Less, Half the Sky -- Chinese women parade, and Issues once Invisible -- Women and Children in Changing China.
