Ken TERAWAKI

文化庁 文化部長

1975年文部省入省。初等中等教育局職業教育課長等を務めた後、一時広島県教育委員会教育長に。
再び文部省に戻り高等教育局医学教育課長、生涯学習局生涯学習振興課長、大臣官房政策課長、文部科学省大臣官房審議官生涯学習政策担当を務める。

平成14年より現職。『生きていいの？』、『対論・教育をどう変えるか』、『21世紀の学校はこうなる』、『どうする学力低下』、『中学生を救う30の方法』など、著書多数。

Terawaki Ken entered the then Ministry of Education in 1975.
After serving as Director of the Vocational Education Division in the Elementary and Secondary Education Bureau, he was appointed Superintendent of Education in Hiroshima Prefecture.
He then returned to the Ministry of Education and served successively as Director of the Medical Education Division, the Lifelong Learning Promotion Division, and the Policy Division in the Minister's Secretariat. He was then appointed Deputy Director-General of the Lifelong Policy Bureau, before taking up his current position in 2002.
His many works on educational issues include "Ikitete Iino? (Is it OK to be Alive)"
